Day 12

January 14

Psalm 119:89-96

“89 Forever, O LORD, your word is firmly fixed in the heavens. 90 Your faithfulness endures to all generations; you have established the earth, and it stands fast. 91 By your appointment they stand this day, for all things are your servants. 92 If your law had not been my delight, I would have perished in my affliction. 93 I will never forget your precepts, for by them you have given me life. 94 I am yours; save me, for I have sought your precepts. 95 The wicked lie in wait to destroy me, but I consider your testimonies. 96 I have seen a limit to all perfection, but your commandment is exceedingly broad.”

Often when we describe something valuable, or an important cultural tradition like Thanksgiving, we describe it as “Timeless”. According to my friend Google and Oxford Languages, the definition of “timeless” is something not affected by the passage of time. As followers of Christ we know that authentic timelessness is only found in God and God’s Word! In fact, creation itself, our universe, its enormity and intricate complexity point directly to the existence and necessity of Christ. (Psalm 119:89-90, John 1:1-5). Creation bears witness to all of us who were, are, and yet to come that Christ is King (Romans 1:19-20), the author and finisher of all that is, the sustainer of eternity. For the individual person it is easy to be lost in awe when experiencing and observing God’s creation. Think of the grandeur of the Grand Canyon, or wrapping your head around an eagle flying upside down, or the vastness and beauty of stars light years away! But all of it is meaningless and without value to the person as all of creation groans and will eventually pass (Romans 8:18-22). Only Jesus provides the path to an Eternity in a New Creation. Despite the belief of some, refusing to acknowledge Christ does not absolve you from the realities of His love and existence. How you spend your eternity is up to you!

To acknowledge God is to know there is both a Heaven and a Hell. Why? Because He said so (Mark 9:43-48). There is no truth outside of God’s Word and promises to us. What seems cruel is the greatest gift of love! There is one way to being saved. One way to life. This is in Jesus alone! (John 14:1- 7). The Lord’s Words and Promises last forever and are true!

Have you taken the time to know His Word? His Promises? Invest in the experience of knowing Him? The natural laws affiliated with creation is something we continue to explore, discover, and learn. We navigate this collective insight for the betterment of man. Likewise, God has given us insight, direction and instructions to spiritual laws and realities in His love letter to us, the Bible! His Word shines like a lamp upon the path to help navigate the spiritual realities and forces that exist against you and battle for your detriment. Your very soul! His word provides the means for an eternal life of fullness through Christ! (Jer. 31:35). So the next time you are awestruck looking at the moon, or catch a glimpse of the beautiful flower or sunset, ask yourself…

-Do I have a relationship with the Creator of this beauty?
-Have I taken time to thank God for His love and mercy today?
-Have I taken time to experience His Word by reading His love letter to me?
-Have I told Him, I love You!?
