Bonus Day
January 24
I hope you have enjoyed taking a deeper look at Psalm 119 over the last 3 weeks. I have appreciated the different perspectives and highlights from our different authors. Our Days of Fasting might have ended yesterday, but I wanted to go one day further. What do you do NOW that the fast is over? I think this last section in Psalm 119 gives a great answer to that.
Psalm 119:169-176 - “O Lord, listen to my cry; give me the discerning mind you promised. 170 Listen to my prayer; rescue me as you promised. 171 Let praise flow from my lips, for you have taught me your decrees. 172 Let my tongue sing about your word, for all your commands are right. 173 Give me a helping hand, for I have chosen to follow your commandments. 174 O Lord, I have longed for your rescue, and your instructions are my delight. 175 Let me live so I can praise you, and may your regulations help me. 176 I have wandered away like a lost sheep; come and find me, for I have not forgotten your commands.”
I want to focus particularly on a few verses.
171-172 – “Let praise flow from my lips, for You have taught me Your decrees. Let my tongue sing about Your Word, for all Your commands are right.”
So what should you do NOW? PRAISE the LORD! Thank Him for His Word! Express gratitude for anything that He taught you over these last 3 weeks and HOLD ONTO IT!
Also, make verse 175 a prayer, “Let me live so I can praise You, and may Your regulations (Your Word) help me!” His Word WILL help you if you get ROOTED in it. Don’t just go through the motions of reading the Bible in 2024, learn to LOVE it, PURSUE understanding it, and INTENTIONALLY OBEY what you understand. God will BLESS you for that!
