Day 14

January 16

Psalm 119:105-112

In this part of Psalm 119 we get the famous scripture, “Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path” in verse 105. This verse sets up the passage with his value held in the scriptures. It is a guide, a source of light in the darkness of our lives, as an actual light shows us the way in the physical world.

Next, the Psalmist repeats his love for and deep desire to follow the guidance of the
scriptures in his life. He does not complain about how hard it is to follow the scriptures, but rather he holds tight to the desire to follow the guidance given to him by his Lord and God. In verses 107-110, he writes about his shortcomings and weakness in this, along with his knowledge of the enemies “traps”. Yet, he comes back to the Lord as his source of strength.

He ends this section reiterating his “determination” to uphold the scriptures of his
Lord God ‘til his very end.
